Storage tanks are used for storing fluids like water, oil or industrial chemicals. Fluid pressure acts on the walls of the tank which induces stresses and gives rise to deflection when fully filled.
Water filling test is done on tanks, density of water being more that density of oils and chemicals in most cases to ensure that it can sustain stresses generated due to fluid.
For cleaning and maintenance purpose, manholes are provided in the tank and rungs are provided on inner side of the tank along the height for getting inside the tank.
Expectation of client in this case was to have design calculations of the tank and reduce manufacturing cost.
